Kanye West Appears to Embrace the Pro-Life Cause

Is Kanye West becoming a pro-life advocate? It appears like that may be the case as the rapper and possible presidential candidate continues to embrace Christianity and move in a more politically conservative direction.

In an interview with Forbes magazine about his campaign, West said, “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work,” and “I am pro-life because I’m following the word of the Bible.”

Nia Martin-Robinson, the Director of Black Leadership and Engagement at Planned Parenthood, responded, “Black women are free to make our own decisions about our bodies and pregnancies, and want and deserve to have access to the best medical care available.”

She went on to say, “Any insinuation that abortion is Black genocide is offensive and infantilizing. The real threat to Black communities’ safety, health, and lives stems from lack of access to quality, affordable health care, police violence, and the criminalization of reproductive health care by anti-abortion opposition.”

Ironically, her response ignores the fact that African Americans make up a disproportionate percentage of abortions in this country, and that Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, in an interview with Mike Wallace appeared to despise most of the human race.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Abortion Surveillance Report states that African Americans represent 38% of all abortions performed in the United States, despite making up only 13.4% of the population per the U.S. Census Bureau. Whites, which make up about 76.3% of the population, only account for only 35% of abortions. Hispanics are the only group where the percentage of abortions is essentially equal to its population percentage, which is about 18%.

The abortion business also doesn’t actually address any of the issues that Martin-Robinson is concerned about, like “lack of access to quality, affordable health care, police violence.” Over the last two decades, there has been a steep decline in the general healthcare services that Planned Parenthood offers, especially cancer screenings. The only aspect that the organization has engaged in is trying to stop “the criminalization of reproductive healthcare by anti-abortion opposition,” which is using donations to lobby for pro-abortion legislation across the country. It has nothing to do with healthcare, and everything to do with protecting Planned Parenthood’s revenue stream.

In a radio interview last year, West also said, “We’re [black Americans] brainwashed out here, bro. Come on, man. This is a free man talking. Democrats had us voting [for] Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about? Guns in the Eighties, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children… Thou shall not kill.”

West also recently tweeted an image of a six-month-old preborn baby in the womb after a Google search, and stated, “These souls deserve to live.”

The Tweet was quickly removed, which could be due to his wife, Kim Kardashian West’s, more pro-Planned Parenthood views (she and her sisters visited a clinic during one episode of their reality television show in 2017).

In this rather dark time, it’s encouraging to see a high-profile individual support life. Preborn babies are killed in the womb every day in this country, and perhaps the words of Kanye West will encourage some people to see a different side of the issue.
