DemoCAT Voter? Cat Dead for 12 Years Receives Voter Registration Application by Mail

Four months before election season, parties and political groups are doing everything they can to register potential voters before the general election is held on November 3, 2020. It seems this effort may have gone a little too far when an unidentified group tried to get a furry feline registered to vote.

As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, Ron and Carol Tims were shocked when they received a voter registration application for their cat, Cody Tims, who had been dead for twelve years.

“We have a voter registration application for Cody Tims! How did this happen? It’s not reality, he’s a cat and he’s been dead for a long time,” Carol Tims told Fox 5. “There’s a huge push but if they’re trying to register cats, I’m not sure who else they’re trying to register. I’m not sure if they’re trying to register dogs, mice, snakes.”

The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office released a statement about the incident saying that their office did not send the application and was likely sent by a third-party group.

“Third-party groups all over the country are targeting Georgia to help register qualified individuals. This group makes you wonder what these out-of-town activists are really doing. Make no mistake about it, this office is dedicated to investigating all types of fraud,” the statement said.

The Georgia Secretary of State said that had Cody shown up to the polls, he wouldn’t have been able to vote since he did not have the proper identification. Though according to Fox 5, the Tims’ say Cody would have voted as a “DemoCAT.”

This case highlights the possibility of voter fraud in the upcoming general election. The concerns are heightened as more states consider moving to a vote-by-mail system for the general election due to concerns over the coronavirus.

The Heritage Foundation maintains a database of proven examples of recent election fraud which documents 1,285 proven instances of voter fraud that have resulted in 1,110 criminal convictions.
