According to the Belgic Confession, God reveals himself to us in two “books”: the book of nature (God’s world) and the book of Scripture (God’s written Word). The primary way God reveals himself in the book of Scripture is by proclaiming his name.
In this first of two paired lectures from TGC25, Scott Swain considers several of the names whereby God reveals himself in the Bible. Contemplating God’s names provides a deeper understanding of his being and attributes and a firmer foundation for our faith and hope. It also helps us better appreciate the ways God reveals himself to us in Jesus Christ.
