Sit down and get ready for the most stunning American statistics you’ve read in a long, long time.
Rasmussen Reports and a religious freedom organization, Our Republic, polled a representative sample of likely American voters on their views of Sharia law. Remarkably, they found that 43%of 18- to 24-year-old voters and 39% of those age 25 to 29 express either “mostly positive” or “somewhat positive” views of Sharia law. Shockingly, 16% of voters age 40+ admit positive views.
Add to this that only 54% of 18- to 24-year-old Americans say they would not “support a law that requires public schools to teach kids about the benefits of sharia law.” Twenty-four percent said they would support requiring the teaching and 21% said they were “not sure.” Thirty-one percent of 25- to 29-year-olds support this requirement while only 53% do not. For those 40 and over, 3% support it, and 81% do not.
Note the dramatic generational shift happening here.
On the question of which posed a greater threat to America’s future, Sharia law or America’s alliance with Israel, 34% of the youngest adults said our alliance with Israel while only 22% said Sharia law. The divide for 25- to 29-year-olds was 34% for our Israel alliance being the greater threat and 31% for Sharia law. For 40 and over, it was 48% Sharia law, 23% Israel.
When asked whether Sharia law or “Traditional Christianity” posed a greater “threat to America’s future,” a stunning 28% of 18- to 24-year-olds said Sharia law posed a serious threat while a full 40% said “traditional Christianity” did. Those numbers were slightly reversed for 25- to 29-year-olds, with 42% saying Sharia law was the greater threat, while 25% said traditional Christianity was. That difference for Americans ages 40 and over was 59% Sharia law, 9% Christianity.
What you just read can be summarized as follows: The youngest Americans are increasingly positive on Sharia law, but think faithful Christianity is a serious problem.
Finally, a shocking 27% of all Americans under 30 said they would support a proposal to let Sharia law “become the legal code for all citizens in that town, city, or state” if a majority of citizens favored it. Only 55% of younger 20-somethings and 61% of older ones said “no.” Eighteen percent and 12% respectively said they were “not sure.” The generational divide here was stark. Only 2% of 40+ Americans said yes, while 90% said a definite “no.”
Make no mistake: These polling numbers document the fact of America’s relatively quick generational devolution toward full Muslim rule. We are all watching it happen before our eyes.
This representative survey was conducted late last month with 1,026 likely U.S. voters with a 95% confidence level. Justin Haskins, president and senior fellow at Our Republic said, “These results reveal a striking generational divide in Americans’ attitudes toward sharia.” He adds, “While a clear majority of voters overall have a negative view of sharia and an overwhelming majority oppose allowing it to become the legal code of an American community, large numbers of younger Americans hold very different views.”
On the question of Americans’ views on Sharia law, Our Republic/Rasmussen posed the question to respondents this way:
Sharia is a system of Islamic religious principles and law, derived primarily from the Quran and the teachings and practices of Muhammad, that addresses matters including religious practice, personal conduct, family life, finance, and often civil and criminal law. Do you have a positive or negative opinion about sharia?
Only 36% of all 20-something Americans had a “somewhat” or “mostly negative” view of Sharia law.
This dramatic shift among young people is the product of what has become known in political theory circles as the Red-Green Alliance, a troubling confluence of Marxist thought and radical Islam, joined in their hatred of American ideals and their desire to see its destruction.
Charlie Kirk passionately spoke against this alliance near the end of his life.
The great irony is that if liberally-minded young people do not like the moral law of Judeo-Christianity freely chosen over the individual’s heart and mind, they are WAY not going to appreciate Islamic law enforced as civil law. But that is exactly what these seriously confused young people admitted to these pollsters.
Dr. A.S. Ibrahim is a professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) and runs the Jenkins Center for the Christian Understanding of Islam. He just published Sharia Versus the U.S. Constitution: Why Americans Must Choose Freedom. He explains how these two means of governing a people are diametrically opposed to one another. His first chapter is entitled, “Why Sharia and the First Amendment Cannot Coexist” and he provides a whole appendix on how Sharia principals directly conflict with the U.S. Constitution.
In an interview on his new book at SBTS, Professor Ibrahim explains Sharia is both the religious and civil law “as Allah, the deity of Islam, had described and dictated, and as applied in the life of Muhammed.” He adds that when in effect, “Sharia applies to Muslims and non-Muslims” as “a set of rules that affect all the spheres of life.” It is established upon both the text of the Quran and the sayings, actions and practices of Muhammed, which make up the Hadith. They are absolute. It allows no dissent. There is no individual freedom of thought, action or unbelief under Sharia.
But that is precisely what young Americans are increasingly saying they support. It is utter madness and directly opposed to the American ideals of human dignity, the rights of women, freedom of religion, free speech, freedom of conscience and private life.
These polling numbers mark the very possible generational destruction of America and its life-enriching ideals of human equality and freedom. Such data demands we engage with and teach our children why the specific attitudes and beliefs reflected in this new poll are so seriously concerning.
