Education Roundup: Queer Science, Drag Shows and Rainbow Clubs

The National Science Teaching Association recently held a training, as part of its national conference, titled, “Queer Your Classroom: Supporting LGBTQIA+ Students.”

The workshop was for science teachers from pre-K to twelfth grade, Breitbart reported. The PowerPoint from the session is available online, and the workshop description says, “Queer people have been and are still marginalized in science. Come learn simple tricks and strategies to affirm and represent queer students in your classes.”

The presenter suggests ways to talk about LGBT issues in every science class, describing how he “infused talking about gender and sexuality even when it doesn’t seem like it would ‘fit’ or that there would be time.”

For example, when discussing the electromagnetic spectrum, the presenter says, “I connect the word ‘spectrum’ to how gender and sexuality can be a spectrum so that students can understand that there can be two ends but that values are possible in between.”

The science teacher added that you can talk to students “about reproductive organs and functions without saying ‘all men/boys have a penis’ or ‘all women/girls have a vagina’ because that isn’t true.”

That’s just one example from the past few weeks of the widespread push to sexualize and confuse children by discussing inappropriate sexual topics and including “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” across the curriculum.

Here are just a few more examples:

Video surfaced of drag queens performing provocative and lewd dances at a high school event in Pennsylvania. The Gay Sexuality Alliance club sponsored the after-school event. One club adviser said on social media, “I don’t know how to explain the sheer joy I feel in my bones when these queens come [and] take time out of their busy schedules to perform for us (year 3!) and to be with my students,” reported The Daily Wire.
Over at The Federalist, Chad Felix Greene, a gay-identified man, wrote an article titled, “Left-Wing Teachers Ditch Teaching to Indoctrinate Kids About Sex Against Parents’ Will.” He gives several examples, including one where a teacher, “Mx. Jax,” announces coming out “to peers, supervisors, and students, showing the teacher dressed up as a woman with a full beard.”

The Wire also reported, “A Colorado sixth-grader was told to consider declaring herself transgender while attending what she thought was an after-school art club meeting last year, according to her mother and a parents’ rights organization.
Megan Fox, at PJ Media, showed footage from “a leaked Zoom call between teachers that was organized by com,” a website “‘created by teachers for teachers’ and ‘dedicated to equipping educators with the tools they need to foster safe, welcoming gender-inclusive classrooms.’” The site explains how to set up a “Rainbow Club,” a “Gender and Sexuality Alliance” for elementary school children. But be careful! Don’t tell the parents.

The award for the most egregious example of the week goes to Libs of TikTok who reported, “Kindergartners sent home with masturbation assignment.” The children were reportedly given a “homework assignment” with a worksheet from Body Smart: Right from the Start.

The assignment says, “Some children like to touch their own private body parts and some children don’t.” The homework sheet asks children to, “Draw a picture of the private places where you can touch your penis or vulva if you want to.”

There’s something for proud parents to hang on the fridge.

Lest you think someone just made up this worksheet to rile up Christians and conservatives, a video with the author of the book shows the page in question at the 1:27 mark.

I’ve been working at Focus for 15 years now, researching, writing and teaching about issues related to relationships, sexuality, the family and education. Over the years, we’ve shown many examples of what’s happening in education and offered resources for parents to help protect their children.

But honestly, I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening today.

Every week the media and social media inundate us with stories like these. I still believe most teachers are good – they love children and love their subject area – but the push to sexualize and confuse children has grown from a small trickle to a raging river.

Organizations like Planned Parenthood and SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change have pushed for the sexualization of children for decades now. Several alphabets-worth of LGBT activist groups, like HRC and GSA Network and GLSEN, have grown in size and influence. Most started with small anti-bullying projects in the 1980s. but they’ve moved on to full-on indoctrination today.

True, we’ve seen an uprising of parents and concerned citizens in the past year or two. States are passing legislation to protect children from transgender surgeries and drugs, to protect girls sports, and to safeguard parental rights in education.

That is very encouraging. But we need more. We face an all-out assault on children, a war to disrupt and distort their healthy growth into manhood and womanhood.

Pray that God will have mercy on our nation for causing so many little ones to stumble.

And take action. Here are just a few resources to help you understand what’s at stake and give some ideas for challenging this unhealthy and damaging sexualization of children through our education system.
