How Could a ‘Founding Mother’ of Las Vegas Champion the Death of Innocent Children?

Saturday’s Wall Street Journal hailed Joyce Mack as a “Founding Mother” of Las Vegas, a so-called philanthropist and activist who died earlier this month at the age of 99.

“While her husband’s bank built the Strip, she supported arts, civic and education institutions that made a city worth living in for more than a long weekend,” the Journal reported.

As it turns out, apparently only “worth living” for people fortunate enough to be born.

Deeper into the obituary, we read that “Joyce spent her money, time and influence on institutions that would round out the town: arts and education organizations, the building of a synagogue, and nonprofits like Planned Parenthood of Southern Nevada and Opportunity Village, which supports people with intellectual disabilities.”

The ironic constellation of those associations shouldn’t be lost on anybody.

It seems Mrs. Mack had a real passion for education. Her husband, Jerry, was credited with co-founding Nevada Southern University, which eventually became UNLV. After he died in 1998, she continued to give millions, including to its law school.

The Macks were instrumental in Las Vegas’ explosive growth. We’re told her father-in-law took her up into the hills outside the yet-to-be-built city in the 1940s and asked her what she saw down below.

“A cactus,” she told him.

Nate Mack responded, “I see a town there, a city there. There’s going to be churches. There’s going to be houses. There’s going to be stores wherever you look. You’re going to see: This is going to be filled up with civilization.’”

Sadly, Mrs. Mack came to also see Planned Parenthood as part of that civilization.

According to a Planned Parenthood publication, Joyce’s efforts were “tireless” and she played an “instrumental role” in the organization establishing a foothold in Southern Nevada.

How could someone support the Jewish faith and those with intellectual disabilities – and yet happily and willfully also give their millions to the death and destruction of innocent pre-born children?

Of course, these logical disconnects happen all the time, which is why abortion funding continues to soar in the wake of the Supreme Court reversing Roe back in June of 2022.

Abortion is on the ballot in ten states this election – and the radicals are out fundraising the pro-life campaigns by as much as ten to one.

Joyce Mack is being remembered as a philanthropist for all the millions of dollars she gave to various organizations and causes, including Planned Parenthood. But did you know the word “philanthropy” stems from the word “philos” meaning “love” and “anthropos” meaning “man” or “humanity”?

Yet giving to Planned Parenthood and other abortion causes shows no love of humanity but rather a disdain for the most innocent.

Joyce Mack’s connection to Planned Parenthood recalls Warren and the late Susan Buffett’s donations to abortion groups. Between 1989 and 2012, the Buffetts gave over $1.2 billion to the likes of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and the National Abortion Federation, to name just a few of the outlets.

Susan Buffett’s passing in 2004 did nothing to slow the family’s giving. It’s been reported that Warren Buffett’s passion for abortion is motivated by a “a Malthusian dread” of overpopulation.

Once more, it’s illogical how someone who has otherwise been such a successful business investor can fall for such evil, wicked, and foolish lies.

Joyce Mack’s father-in-law saw Las Vegas when his daughter-in-law just saw a cactus. As Christians committed to the protection and preservation of every life, we see the beauty of what life can be – and we continue in our campaign to educate and promote the beauty and worth of the preborn.

We must also pray that the blind will have their eyes opened to the evil and wickedness of the abortion industry – and give their millions to causes that preserve not take life.
