Media Spreads the Wrong Truth, the Whole Wrong Truth, and Nothing but the Wrong Truth.

Media sources around the nation are basking in what they would consider “certainly a win for abortion access,” as Planned Parenthood Medical Officer Colleen McNicholas claimed.

On June 13, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision, ruling that a group of pro-life doctors did not have standing to challenge the FDA’s regulation of the abortion pill mifepristone.

Sources such as NBC News, The Washington Bureau of Fox 8, and an ABC News affiliate, all claim the win for abortion rights without actually stating the opinion written by the court.

The reality is this was not the case. According to the ruling, the Supreme Court did not rule in favor of abortion rights, rather, they dismissed the challenge by pro-life physicians to limit the access to mifepristone, one of the two drugs used in the harmful pill.

The original challenge to the pill was against the FDA’s “relaxed regulation of mifepristone,” wrote Justice Brett Kavanaugh, while on a fair “legal, moral, ideological, and policy objections” basis, Kavanaugh continued, “under Article III of the Constitution, those kinds of objections alone do not establish a justiciable case or controversy in federal court.”

The media is twisting the words of the opinion to gain support, not only for the ruling, but also for the abortion pill itself.

As previously reported by the Daily Citizen, Planned Parenthood deems mifepristone “safe and very common,” but realistically, it is one of 61 drugs (out of a total 20,000) approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that requires a “REMS” (Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy) warning.

Mifestrone, the drug that “instigates a chemical abortion,” according to The Federalist, accounted for nearly two-thirds of abortions last year.

A study done by Oxford Academic states the following complications for women who take this pill: surgical evacuation, hemorrhage and infection. Adding to this story, another study found the following side effects: fever, chills, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, weakness, headache, and dizziness.

It is sickening that pro-choice activists encourage this comfortable way of killing a baby, when two lives are so heavily at stake.

But it doesn’t have to end there.

The Federalist reports that many legal commentators state the “ruling leaves the door open for more lawsuits fighting access to the abortion pill,” and such cases have been seen in Idaho, Kansas and Missouri already. Hopefully, change is coming.
