Every day on the internet, ideas can be broadcast to millions across the globe with the simple click of a button (send, post, publish, tweet).
The unprecedented ease—and speed—of information transmission today certainly has many downsides. But the borderless efficiency of the web can also be a great benefit for spreading the gospel and equipping God’s people.
Global Gospel Coalitions Grow
We have seen firsthand at The Gospel Coalition how the internet can be a catalyst for spreading the gospel and equipping Christians and churches worldwide. The nimble nature of a digital ministry like TGC allows us to respond and adapt to gospel movements and challenges in real time, all over the world.
For example, in 2013 we responded to the rapid growth of Reformed theology in Latin America by launching Coalición por el Evangelio—TGC’s website for the Spanish-speaking world. Jairo Namnún joined TGC as our first editor for a foreign-language site.
Over the last eight years he helped TGC’s Spanish-speaking audience grow from zero to over 6 million. Through trial and error he built a team of editors, translators, and writers who could produce original and translated content to best equip the growing movement of gospel-centered believers in Latin America.
The borderless efficiency of the web can be a great benefit for spreading the gospel and equipping God’s people.
Today Jairo oversees our 15 global coalitions, providing gospel-centered content in languages used by 4 billion people. In 2020, those resources reached over 11 million people outside the United States.
Jairo now recruits, hires, and trains our team of global editors as they raise up editors, translators, and writers to address the specific needs of their regions and church communities.
“In 2011, the first website I visited in the morning was TGC.org, looking for gospel resources to deepen my understanding of Scripture and the gospel, even though Spanish is my primary language,” Jairo recalls. “This last week, TGC Spanish finished training a group of 25 writers from all over Latin America so that they could produce more original content for the Spanish-speaking community (three to four new articles a day).”
Jairo is excited that work like this is now being done by TGC Arabic, TGC Farsi, TGC Slovakian, TGC Chinese, and other Gospel Coalition international sites around the world.
“This is a wonderful thing the Lord has done—something I could have only dreamed of 10 years ago.”
Global Gospel Partnership
Moving ahead, we want to see a global gospel advance fueled by the prayers of God’s people. A gospel win in one part of the world is a gospel win for all Christians, after all.
For the next 40 days, we invite you to join us, in prayer and giving, for the ministry strength and impact of TGC’s global coalitions. We would like to see more gospel-centered resources delivered in Albanian, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Portuguese, Slovakian, and Spanish. We want to strengthen believers, encourage pastors, and provide answers to the spiritually searching all over the world. We would like to see leaders from Africa, Australia, Canada, Italy, Korea, the Netherlands, and the U.S. sharing winsome and wise responses to issues facing churches and Christians in their regions of the world.
For the next 40 days, Jairo and his team will be sharing stories of God’s work around the globe, and prayer requests from our international partners, through a 40 Day Prayer Guide.
For the next 40 days, Jairo and his team will be sharing stories of God’s work around the globe, and prayer requests from our international partners, through a 40 Day Prayer Guide. You’ll learn encouraging stories from small communities in Poland, praise the Lord alongside brothers and sisters in Cambodia, and pray for pastors in Argentina. If you would like to join us in prayer, click here to download the 40 Day Prayer Guide.
If you’ve personally benefited from the resources of TGC, would you consider giving so that others around the world would have the same access in their language and their region? Our goal is to raise $300,000 so Jairo and his team can continue to expand their efforts to provide gospel-centered content for the global church. A gift of $100, $250, $500, or more can help us make a significant gospel impact.
Your gift to TGC’s Global Resourcing initiative will go directly toward the development and distribution of gospel-centered resources throughout the majority world. Thank you!
