LGBT Activists Send Christmas Wish List to Biden and Harris – Asking Them to Assault Religious Freedom

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest LGBT-activist group, sent a post-election wish list to former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris. If the Electoral College ultimately declares Biden the winner of this still-contested presidential race, HRC says its “Blueprint for Positive Change 2020 provides a critical roadmap of 85 individual policy recommendations.”

Their agenda includes requiring Christian schools to hire LGBT-identified individuals – or face discrimination charges and lose accreditation. It would force faith-based adoption and foster care agencies, who believe children should have a mom and a dad, to place children with same-sex couples. HRC also demands those offering help to Christians who struggle with same-sex attractions be charged with “fraudulent business practices.”

In announcing their Blueprint, HRC said, “The momentous election of pro-equality champions Joe Biden and Kamala Harris puts us on a path to move equality forward by advancing policies to improve the lives of millions of LGBTQ people.” The organization has policy proposals for almost every government department.

Dr. Albert Mohler Jr., head of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminar, wrote that the list of demands is a huge threat to religious freedom. He especially spotlighted those addressed to the Department of Education, “The Human Rights Campaign demands the Biden administration to ensure that ‘non-discrimination policies and science-based curriculum are not undermined by religious exemption to accreditation standards.’”

“That is sinister. I’ve not seen any document like this before – the Human Rights Campaign is effectively calling for religious colleges and schools to be coerced into the sexual revolution or stripped of accreditation,” Mohler said.

He quoted the relevant text from the Blueprint, “Language regarding accreditation of religious institutions of higher education in the Higher Education Opportunity Act could be interpreted to require accrediting bodies to accredit religious institutions that discriminate or do not meet science-based curricula standards. The Department of Education should issue a regulation clarifying that this provision, which requires accreditation agencies to ‘respect the stated mission’ of religious institutions, does not require the accreditation of religious institutions that do not meet neutral accreditation standards including nondiscrimination policies and scientific curriculum requirements.”

“We must not miss the language: Accreditation should be revoked for those who do not meet the LGBT ‘non-discrimination’ standards or ‘science-based curricula standards,’” Mohler wrote.

In addition to this assault on Christian schools, the Blueprint asks a Biden administration to “ensure consistent administrative implementation of Bostock v. Clayton County across all agencies enforcing civil rights statutes and provisions.” In Bostock, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that sex discrimination in hiring includes “being homosexual or transgender.”

HRC wants Biden to revise the Trump administration’s decision not to allow transgender-identified individuals to serve in the military and to keep the military from paying for “transitioning” hormones and surgeries. In announcing the ban, Trump argued that the military “cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

The activists ask Biden and Harris to “appoint openly-LGBTQ justices, judges, executive officials and ambassadors,” to “establish an interagency working group to protect and support LGBTQ rights globally,” and to “end discrimination against gay and bisexual blood donors.”

That last demand refers to Food and Drug Administration guidelines, which keep men from donating blood if they have had sex with another man in the past three months. The guideline is to reduce “the risk of HIV transmission by blood and blood products.” LGBT extremists view the policy as discriminatory and hurtful.

Among the proposals is one that would “prohibit the practice of conversion therapy as a fraudulent business practice.” “Conversion therapy” is a term manufactured by activists to describe help for those with unwanted homosexuality and transgenderism, including support and encouragement from churches, ministries, schools and counselors.

Such a ban would keep parents from offering help to a gender-confused child. It would keep Christian teens, wrestling with unwanted same-sex attractions or behaviors, from being guided to live according to their deeply-held religious beliefs. Married men and women, struggling with homosexuality, could not be helped to work through issues and hold to their marriage covenant.

Any church, pastor, ministry, counselor, school or author who helps people leave homosexuality or transgenderism could be charged with consumer fraud.

HRC hopes to “eliminate discrimination against beneficiaries in charitable choice and faith-based initiatives,” forcing Christian homeless and domestic violence shelters to place men who claim to be women in all-female facilities. Religious adoption agencies would be compelled to serve same-sex couples. LGBT extremists and their allies view religious exemptions in these cases “a license to discriminate.”

The list also includes the demand to “rescind and replace regulations restricting coverage of Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act,” which could force doctors and hospitals to perform abortions and transgender surgeries.

Mohler is right. This assault on people of faith is sinister.
