Thirty-Four Republican Lawmakers Call on Justice Department to Prosecute Netflix Over ‘Cuties’

Thirty-four Republican lawmakers have written a letter to Attorney General William Barr requesting the Department of Justice (DOJ) “bring charges against Netflix, Inc. for the distribution of the film ‘Cuties,’ which contains child pornography.”

The letter was authored by Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., and lays out the legal case against Netflix.

“As defined by 18 U.S.C Section 2256, child pornography is any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a minor,” the letter states. “Cuties clearly meets the United States’ legal definition of child pornography.”

The Daily Citizen again reached out to the Justice Department inquiring whether it will open an investigation into Netflix but did not receive a response as of publishing time.

“Cuties is child porn and Netflix should be prosecuted for distributing it. The vast majority of Americans agree with me, which is why Netflix’s cancellation rate has skyrocketed,” Rep. Banks said in a statement regarding the letter. “Americans are shocked to see this foisted on our children, and so are my 33 Republican colleagues who’ve signed this letter. But no Democrats. They seem more inclined to defend Cuties than criticize it. That raises some alarm bells.”

One Democrat, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii, has fiercely criticized the film. “‘Cuties’ will certainly whet the appetite of pedophiles & help fuel the child sex trafficking trade… Netflix, you are now complicit. #CancelNetflix,” the congresswoman tweeted.

As The Daily Citizen has previously summarized, Netflix’s “Cuties” depicts “four 11-year-old girls scantily clad, gyrating and twerking, with several close-up shots of their buttocks. It also shows them grabbing their crotches several times, shaking their buttocks while grabbing their inner thighs, thrusting up and down on the floor and stroking each other’s rear ends.”

“We appreciate you considering this issue and eagerly await your response,” the letter concludes.

If the DOJ does choose to investigate and prosecute Netflix for the film “Cuties,” The Daily Citizen will bring you the story.
