Pro-life NFL player Harrison Butker is celebrating the birth of his third child with his wife Isabelle. Butker has been the Kansas City Chiefs’ kicker since 2017 and is a three-time Super Bowl champion.
The 29-year-old recently appeared on The Ingraham Angle with Laura Ingraham alongside Missouri Senator Josh Hawley.
Ingraham asked Butker about remarks he made earlier this year while giving the commencement address at Benedictine College. He had spoken against abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and euthanasia, while encouraging young women who may wish to become stay-at-home moms – like his wife, Isabelle.
“I was trying to speak life for so many women that have dedicated their life to being the homemaker, being the one that raises the children,” Butker explained. “It’s a beautiful role but it’s not a role that should be diminished.”
He added,
Butker has been a courageous pro-life and pro-family fighter for years.
In 2022, the kicker appeared in a pro-life commercial from Catholic Vote urging Kansas to support the “Value Them Both Amendment” which would have declared that the Kansas Constitution does not guarantee a right to abortion. Unfortunately, the measure failed.
In 2023, after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in a 38-35 victory of the Philadelphia Eagles, Butker brought his pro-life message to the White House.
During his team’s visit, Butker wore a tie that had the phrase “Vulnerari Praesidio” written in cursive on it. The words are a Latin phrase that translates to “Protect the most vulnerable.” The tie was designed by the pro-life organization Live Action.
Butker “also wore a gold pin replicating the size of a 10-week-old aborted baby’s feet, intended to draw awareness to the many thousands of unborn babies killed through abortion every year.”
Later that year, Butker also gave the commencement address for his alma mater Georgia Institute of Technology.
His message: “Get married and start a family.”
Butker’s pro-family and pro-life message is sorely needed in our culture which increasingly discards the value of marriage and life.
According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in April 2023, far more Americans say having a job they enjoy (71%) and having close friends (61%) is important to living a fulfilling life compared to having children (26%) and being married (23%).
And yet, studies have repeatedly found that married women and men with children report the highest levels of being “very happy.”
The General Social Survey shows that “among married women with children between the ages of 18 and 55, 40% reported they are ‘very happy,’ compared to 25% of married childless women, and just 22% of unmarried childless women.”
Likewise, married fathers are more than twice as likely to report being “very happy” compared to their unmarried, childless peers.
Congratulations to the Butkers on welcoming their third child! We celebrate with them and thank them both for their courageous witness to the value of life and family.
