Canadian Teen Suspended From Christian School for Saying There are Two Sexes, Later Arrested.

Josh Alexander, an 11th grader at St. Joseph Catholic High School in Renfrew, Ontario, has found himself in hot water with his school and local authorities, so much so that his family had to hire a lawyer. It all started because he believes humans are male and female, and spoke this belief out loud in a class discussion. His views are clearly in accordance with his own school’s teaching, but the principal suspended him for 20 days.

He harmed no one. He threatened no one. He simply said what he believes.

So how did things go so wrong? Because wokeness has won out in Canada.

The mild-mannered 16-year-old simply shared his views in a classroom discussion that male and female are the only two sexes, men cannot become women, and girls have a right to use their own restroom without biological males intruding. Female students at his school were concerned about having to share their restroom with boys.

Speaking these beliefs, and standing up for these girls, got the Baptist student suspended from this Catholic school, even though the Catechism of the Catholic Church, in Paragraph 355, quotes Genesis 1:27: “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.”

The National Post, Canada’s largest newspaper, reported on Feb. 8, 2023, that Alexander “was arrested by police Monday afternoon for breaching an exclusion order, but the real crime that the student is being punished for is upholding his [Christian] beliefs.”

Alexander told the National Post, “I got suspended for comments made during a class discussion.” He explained the class discussion “was about male students using female washrooms, gender dysphoria and male breastfeeding. Everyone was sharing their opinions on it, any student who wanted to was participating, including the teacher.”

Alexander added, “I said there were only two genders and you were born either a male or a female and that got me into trouble.”

Some students objected to these comments, indicating they felt “unsafe.” The principal took action on their behalf. No such action was taken to protect the safety of the girls who voiced discomfort with sharing their restroom with boys.

As Alexander’s lawyer, James Kitchen of Liberty Coalition Canada, stated in a letter to the school’s principal, “No reasonable person would conclude Mr. Alexander poses any risk whatsoever to transgender students.” Kitchen adds,

Mr. Alexander does not seek controversy for its own sake. But he will not be silent about his beliefs or his concerns for female students. If controversy is imposed upon him by those who oppose his viewpoints, he will not shy away from it. He prefers to work cooperatively with you on ways he can receive education at St. Joseph’s while being treated fairly.

Alexander and his lawyer appeared this week on Tucker Carlson’s show explaining how all this escalated,

Kitchen informed the principal that the school’s conditions under which Alexander can return – being kept from half his classes because two “transgender” students there are uncomfortable with his presence, no “deadnaming,” and controlled contact with “transgender” students  – “are absurd and lack any basis in law” consisting of “a repugnant form of religious discrimination.”

And these absurd conditions come from an ostensibly Christian school administrator.

Kitchen reasonably added in his letter,

Mr. Alexander has not and will not intentionally intimidate or otherwise harass any transgender student. However, he will not be responsible for transgender students unreasonably experiencing subjective feelings of offence or being “unsafe” as a result of Mr. Alexander expressing his religious beliefs, or expressing his opinions during class debates about gender and access to bathrooms by both genders simultaneously.

We must all note that what Alexander stated in class is basic biology and would not have gotten a sideways look from anyone until recently. The madness of gender wokeness has us in an age where a high school student is in trouble with the law because he believes and says things his school is supposed to teach. But a small handful of clearly confused students object to those wholly scientific beliefs, claiming they make them feel “unsafe.” There is a problem here, and it’s not Mr. Alexander.

It is the principal siding with the few vocal students who hold views in opposition to his school’s clear faith tradition. This is where gender and social justice ideology has brought us, and reasonable people must strongly object.
