Two organizations will be spending large amounts of money to get Christians off the sidelines this election cycle in order to impact issues such as abortion, marriage, parental rights, religious freedom, education and other public policies affecting the family.
The Christian Post is reporting that the Faith and Freedom Coalition (F&FC), a national grassroots organization headed by Christian activist Ralph Reed, will be spending between $36 million and $42 million to target Christian voters.
In 2020, F&FC conducted 5.2 million personal home visits to Christians in key battleground states who often don’t vote in elections, printed and distributed 43 million voter guides, and drove Christians to the polls where needed.
My Faith Votes, a non-partisan organization that motivates, equips and activates Christians in America to vote in every election, plans to spend over $3.5 million this election cycle. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is the Honorary National Chairman of the organization; Sealy Yates is its Founder and President.
Both organizations will target specific states where an influx of Christian voters could make a difference in November. All 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives are up for re-election, as well as 34 U.S. senators, 36 state governorships and more than 80% of state legislative seats.
F&FC predicted it will reach 8.2 million residences in 24 states using direct mail, phone messages and home visits.
My Faith Votes estimates that more than 25 million Christians who are registered to vote do not vote in a presidential election (with 15 million more not registered to vote at all), and as many as 65 million Christians do not vote in local elections. Its efforts will be directed to Christian voters in nine states.
It also spearheaded a National Voter Registration Sunday on September 18 as an annual event for churches across the nation to encourage their congregations to engage civically and register to vote.
Scripture tells us to pray for our government officials (I Timothy 2:1-2), show respect to them (1 Peter 2:17), subject yourself to governing authorities (Romans 13:1), and pray for the nation (2 Chronicles 7:14).
But as a nation that is free because of the profound wisdom of our Founding Fathers and the Framers of the Constitution and the constitutional Republic they created, we also have a duty to participate in that exercise in self-government, the first step of which is to register and vote in every election.
