Pro-Abortion Activists in Effort to Support Democracy Call for Blockade of Supreme Court on Monday

As we approach the release of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization sometime in the next few weeks and the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade, the left has devolved into a frenzy of overheated rhetoric, threats, firebombing, vandalism, and, last but certainly not least, the attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The high court’s annual term ends typically when its last opinion for the term is handed down, usually in late June of each year, although there is no hard fast date set in stone. The justices are (we assume) rapidly finishing up work on the nearly 30 decisions left to be announced, including important religious freedom cases such as those involving the praying Coach Kennedy and the Maine tuition-assistance case, Carson v. Makin.

But none of the pending cases have resulted in ominous promises of a “summer of rage”  or that “we will be ungovernable” like the possibility that the justices will muster at least five votes to send the issue of abortion back to the states and the people for resolution.

The Supreme Court’s website indicates March 13 and 15 as the next days on which the justices will be issuing one or more opinions. Dobbs could be one of those opinions, or not. We don’t know.

That uncertainty, however, has never stopped the pro-abortion left from venting its rage at all things pro-life. So, because of a supposed “crisis of democracy,” it naturally has to shut down the Supreme Court on the 13th.

ShutdownDC.org has announced plans to blockade the streets around the Supreme Court on that day as part of what it calls, “the transformative change that our communities need.” The group apparently aims to prevent the court from conducting any business on that day.

Maybe it has never heard of the internet.

Odd, though. Taking the issue of abortion out of the hands of nine unelected justices and putting it back into the hands of the people and their elected representatives seems to be the very epitome of the “democracy” the left claims is threatened by the upcoming Dobbs decision. The only “crisis of democracy” the country ever really experienced on the issue of abortion was in 1973 when the Supreme Court took the issue out of the hands of “We the People” and placed it squarely in the hands of the black-robed folks who work at One First Street, Washington, D.C.

But such is the tired rhetoric of abortion supporters that to them, democracy is fascism, up is down, black is white, and “give us what we want or we’ll shut the place down” substitutes for passing laws the old-fashioned way – by organizing support and voting for laws that people want.

If anything, the current lawlessness the left is exhibiting for all the world to see clearly reveals abortion for the unmitigated evil that it is. It takes courage to stir up evil, so Christians everywhere ought to be lifting up holy hands on behalf of those on the front lines of the current battle for life.

So, please continue to pray for the Dobbs decision, for the safety of the justices and other court personnel, and for a culture of life to be restored in this country.
