Government Gone Woke: State Department Issues First Nonbinary Passport

In the latest development in woke politics, the U.S. State Department has issued its first gender-neutral passport with an individual’s sex marked with an “X” designation.

The agency did not disclose who the passport was issued to. The Associated Press reports, “A department official declined to say whether it was for Dana Zzyym, an intersex Colorado resident who has been in a legal battle with the department since 2015.”

The U.S. special diplomatic envoy for LGBTQ rights, Jessica Stern, told The AP that the passport was “historic” and puts the government in touch with the “lived reality” of Americans who identify as something other than male or female.

“When a person obtains identity documents that reflect their true identity, they live with greater dignity and respect,” Stern said.

“We see this as a way of affirming and uplifting the human rights of trans and intersex and gender-nonconforming and nonbinary people everywhere,” she added.

This is the latest development in a process announced by the State Department in June, when the agency said it would work to add “non-binary” and “intersex” options on U.S. passports.

In addition to adding those two options, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in June that the agency “will be updating our procedures to allow applicants to self-select their gender as ‘M’ or ‘F.’”

And for those individuals whose other official documents and medical forms indicate them to be either male or female, they no longer need any official confirmation that they have a medical condition warranting the nonbinary option. According to the State Department, their word is as good as gold.

“We … will no longer require medical certification if an applicant’s self-selected gender does not match the gender on their other citizenship or identity documents,” the department said in June.

The State Department has seemingly been on a woke crusade recently. On October 20, the agency’s official Twitter account shared an article celebrating International Pronouns Day.

“Today on International Pronouns Day, we share why many people list pronouns on their email and social media profiles,” the State Department tweeted.

Those who genuinely struggle with gender dysphoria, or are born with anatomical deformities deserve compassion, support and help.

Yet, that doesn’t diminish the fact that for Christians, both as a matter of faith and of scientific reason, we know that mankind exists as two distinct yet complementary sexes: male and female.
