Court Rules that Iowa Can Keep Planned Parenthood and Its Sex Education Courses Out of Schools

The Iowa Supreme Court has determined that the state can refuse Planned Parenthood access to schools as sex education teachers, limiting the corrosive influence of the abortion industry in local communities.

The law, which passed in 2019, prevents the nation’s largest abortion business from receiving “grant money to teach sex education in the Community Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program administered by the Iowa Department of Human Services and the Personal Responsibility Education Program administered by the Iowa Department of Public Health.”

Planned Parenthood had been part of this government program since 2005, receiving thousands of government dollars to serve as sex educators in schools, though those educators were prohibited from talking about abortion and the state acknowledges that the abortion business followed those directives.

But the state wanted to go further and tried to remove it from schools altogether. The court agreed that it could.

In an opinion written by Justice Dana Oxley, “The state could also be concerned that using abortion providers to deliver sex education programs to teenage students would create relationships between the abortion provider and the students the state does not wish to foster in light of its policy preference for childbirth over abortion.”

The abortion business complained that the law violated their “right to equal protection and that the law served no rational legitimate government interest.”

That’s not true.

The government must have a vested interest in protecting students from Planned Parenthood and its deceptive and sexually explicit tactics.

For example, 8th grade students in Tacoma, Washington were recently given a flyer explaining their right to access an abortion without parental consent. It also told students that “it is not a crime” if an 11-year-old child has “sex with somebody 2 years older or less.”

If that wasn’t enough, the flyer also explained that anyone can access Plan B over the counter at a pharmacy at any age “without prescription” and that they can also “buy condoms at any age.”

The school apologized for the incident, with Assistant Director of Secondary Education Eric Hogan explaining, “Previously, Planned Parenthood taught within our schools and supplied the flyer that was distributed to students. We discovered a binder of curriculum materials was left behind for an incoming teacher to use for this year, and this flyer was in the binder. Not realizing the flyer wasn’t approved material, the teacher sent it home with students.”

In the Los Angeles School District, Planned Parenthood clinics are in the process of becoming an on-campus presence in high schools across the county.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, told The Daily Citizen in a 2020 interview, “Quite frankly, it’s disturbing. This decision will allow Planned Parenthood staff and materials to become feeder clinics. They presented this as a great opportunity for students to have access to ‘quality reproductive health care,’ but they have no business being in schools.”

When given a platform in schools, Planned Parenthood also tries to do everything it can to eliminate or minimize a parent’s influence on their child’s life, especially when it comes to sex.

Monica Cline, a former sex educator with the abortion business, explained in an op-ed, “Parents are purposely left out. Parents are powerful, possessing a natural instinct to protect their children, and Planned Parenthood wants to undermine that. That is why they say, ‘Parents are a barrier to service.’ The only good parent to Planned Parenthood is the parent who agrees with their ideology. The rest of us need to be made irrelevant, and the organization has great counseling skills to help make us irrelevant in the eyes of our children.”

Sex education is important—however, Planned Parenthood doesn’t teach kids how to seek out healthy relationships or the pitfalls of sexual experimentation. Instead, it teaches kids how to have sex, explore kinks and encourages them to have as many sexual partners as possible.

“This type of sex education does not protect our youth,” Cline said. “It only serves to encourage them to explore all sexual activities and places a burden on them that they are not prepared to bear. Will Planned Parenthood continue to educate our youth about sex? Of course, they’ll try. Planned Parenthood and other like-minded organizations have been collaborating for years to establish illicit sex education in our schools and communities. Remember, it’s big money for them.”

Every child or teen who comes into Planned Parenthood needing an abortion or seeking treatment for a sexually transmitted disease is money in the bank. Their education isn’t about safety as much as it is about cultivating a dedicated and ignorant client base that will seek out their services and know they can do so without their parents’ oversight.
