Twitter Refused to Remove Videos of Child Sex Trafficking Victim, but ‘The Daily Citizen’ Remains Locked Out

The Daily Citizen remains locked out off Twitter after a writer defined a transgender woman as a man who believes that he is a woman, but apparently sex traffickers are allowed to operate with minimal interference.

In recent lawsuit filed by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation Law Center (NCOSE), The Haba Law Firm and The Matiasic Firm on behalf of a young John Doe explains how the plaintiff and his parents requested multiple times for the social media business to remove evidence of his abuse.

It refused.

NCOSE explains, “At age 16, Plaintiff John Doe was horrified to find out sexually graphic videos of himself—made at age 13 under duress by sex trafficker—had been posted to Twitter. Both John Doe and his mother, Jane Doe, contacted the authorities and Twitter. Using Twitter’s reporting system, which according to its policies is designed to catch and stop illegal material like child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from being distributed, the Doe family verified that John Doe was a minor and the videos needed to be taken down immediately.”

Peter Gentala, senior legal counsel for NCOSE said, “As John Doe’s situation makes clear, Twitter is not committed to removing child sex abuse material from its platform. Even worse, Twitter contributes to and profits from the sexual exploitation of countless individuals because of its harmful practices and platform design. Despite its public expressions to the contrary, Twitter is swarming with uploaded child pornography and Twitter management does little or nothing to prevent it.”

According to John Doe, Twitter told him that the videos “did not in fact violate any of their policies,” though its policy states otherwise and possessing child pornography is illegal. The videos of John Doe’s abuse were viewed over 167,000 times on Twitter, and it was only after the family contacted law enforcement did Twitter finally remove the videos.

Yet, Twitter immediately removed a tweet from this publication, and continues to lock The Daily Citizen out of its profile, for simply defining what a transgender woman is for our audience in case there was any confusion.

There’s also the recent banning of former President Donald Trump over two rather innocuous tweets, which the social media company determined had violated its “Glorification of Violence policy.”

But violence against children is okay?

According to Twitter’s own child sexual exploitation policy, Twitter has “a zero-tolerance child sexual exploitation policy on Twitter.” It is also considered “one of the most serious violations of the Twitter Rules.”

Perhaps that should be amended to reflect that the company considers its “most serious violations” to include conservatives and those who believe in the biological reality of God’s creation. Children who have been the victims of sexual exploitation, violence and abuse should apparently not expect any help from the tech giant.

This begs the question, while Twitter is busy censoring The Daily Citizen, Trump and other conservatives, what other criminal activities are allowed to go on the site unimpeded? How many drug deals are confirmed through Twitter? How many terrorist attacks? How many children are exploited every day through its site?

Social media companies need to monitor their content, but this is largely to avoid situations like John Doe’s and others. But as social media companies like Twitter and Facebook become more political, the so-called monitors are likely spending more time trolling conservative pages for any language that does not follow the progressive script, and less time monitoring the websites for videos and images of actual violence, sexual assault, abuse and other criminal activity.

If it really stands by its own policies on violence, Twitter should focus more on the safety of children over the supposed sensitivities of the progressive and liberal elites.
