Appearing on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Wednesday evening, Erica Kious, owner of the salon that was recently visited by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, told Carlson that she is closing down her business.
“I started to get a ton of phone calls, text messages, emails, all my Yelp reviews… all saying they hope I go under and that I fail, so [I’ve received] just a lot of negativity towards my business,” Kious said, before adding, “I’m actually done in San Francisco and closing my doors, unfortunately.”
Speaker Pelosi visited Kious’ salon on Monday, August 31 to get a blow-out. Security footage of the speaker’s visit shows her walking around inside the store without a mask on.
Current California regulations only allow for “outdoor personal services,” and only if providers and clients wear masks “at all times.”
After the security footage was released, Speaker Pelosi blamed the salon for setting her up.
“I take responsibility for trusting the word of the neighborhood salon that I’ve been to… many times… It was a set up, and I take responsibility for falling for a setup. I think that this salon owes me an apology, for setting me up,” Speaker Pelosi said at the time.
Kious added on Carlson’s program, “I’m actually afraid to go back just because of the messages and emails I’ve been getting, so it’s a little scary and sad.”
She also noted that while she’s lived in San Francisco for 15 years, she’s never felt unsafe. Until now.
“Unfortunately, it’s going down a path that a lot of people feel that way,” she said. “A lot of people are leaving. They’re feeling unsafe.”
