Tonight was the final night of the Democrat National Convention which was keynoted by presidential contender Joe Biden who delivered his acceptance speech of the Democrat nomination for president to end the night.
The night had more of a scattershot selection of topics than previous nights did. Most speakers tried to present a personal story behind a topic that they cared about, but per usual, the coronavirus pandemic was still featured the most often.
“Working people are under attack,” said Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., in his address to the convention. “The wealth gap grows, our middle class shrinks, and poverty persists… We’ll stand for those who cook and serve and clean, who plant and harvest and pack, and always, those who deliver.”
Singer John Legend and rapper Common were also featured prominently in the first hour of the night, preforming the song “Glory.” The song repeats this refrain: “One day when the glory comes, it will be ours, it will be ours, oh one day when the war is won, we will be sure, we will be sure.”
One of the more moving stories came from World War II veteran Edward Good. “I am Edward Good. I’m 95 years old. I’m a veteran of World War II and of Korea,” Mr. Good began.
“When I wear a uniform, I wear only two badges, my parachute wings and the combat infantry badge. I did make one combat jump over the Rhine in Germany, and I’m proud of that.”
“I have been a Republican since the 1960s, I’m a lifetime member of the National Rife Association, and I voted for Trump [back in 2016].” Mr. Good then explained that he is going to be voting for Joe Biden this time.

Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who spent $500 million in his failed run for president in the 2020 Democrat primary, spent most of his time blasting President Trump’s record.
“He has failed the American people catastrophically,” Bloomberg said. “Today, unemployment is at historic highs, and small businesses are struggling just to survive. It didn’t have to be this way.”
“Why the he** would we ever rehire Donald Trump for the next four years?” Bloomberg asked.
Other speakers for the night included Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.
And lastly, Joe Biden wrapped up the night. Introducing Joe Biden for his acceptance speech were his children, Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden. Both mentioned Beau Biden, Joe Biden’s other son who died from brain cancer in 2015.
Biden then began his speech: “Good evening… The current president’s cloaked America in darkness for much too long. Too much anger, too much fear, too much division. Here and now, I give you my word. If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw from the best of us, not the worst. I’ll be an ally of the light, not the darkness… It’s time for we the people to come together. Make no mistake, united we can and will overcome this season of darkness in America. We’ll choose to hope over fear, facts over fiction, fairness over privilege. I’m a proud Democrat, and I’ll be proud to carry the banner of our party into the general election. So it’s with great honor and humility that I accept this nomination for president of the United States of America,” Biden began his speech.

“History’s delivered us one of the most difficult moments America’s ever faced. Four historic crises, all at the same time. A perfect storm. The worst pandemic in over 100 years. The worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. The most compelling call for racial justice since the 60’s, and the undeniable realities and accelerating threats of climate change,” Biden stated.
“Are we ready?” he asked.
“America’s at an inflection point. A time of real peril, but also of extraordinary possibilities.”
Starting on Monday next week, August 24-27, the Republican Party will hold their convention each night and will prominently feature President Donald J. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Nick Sandmann, Abby Johnson and many others.
