CNN’s Don Lemon Claims ‘Jesus Christ, Admittedly, Was Not Perfect’

Don Lemon, host of “CNN Tonight with Don Lemon,” recently claimed that Jesus Christ was “not perfect,” while discussing racial issues with another CNN host, Chris Cuomo.

“Jesus Christ, if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ, admittedly, was not perfect when he was here on this earth,” Lemon said.

Cuomo did not offer any reaction to Lemon’s comments and instead stared blankly ahead.

Lemon then used his denial of Jesus’ divinity and sinless nature to attack the Founding Fathers.

“So why are we deifying the founders of this country, many of whom owned slaves,” Lemon asked rhetorically. “And in the Constitution, the original one, they put slavery in there, that slavery should be abolished because it was the way the king wanted, and then the Congress said, ‘no way.’”

It seems Don Lemon doesn’t have his theology straight.

For two millennia, orthodox Christians have taught that Jesus, being God incarnate, lived a completely perfect and sinless life. Lemon seems to disagree.

The confusing part of Lemon’s quote is that he says Jesus “admittedly, was not perfect.” What exactly does he mean by admittedly? Is Lemon claiming that somewhere in Scripture, Jesus admitted to not being perfect?

It seems like that is his claim. And if so, can Lemon point out where he finds this revelation in Scripture? He did not provide one in his original comments.

Interestingly, this claim from Lemon is not the only controversial, anti-religious comment that a CNN host has made in the past week.

On July 1, The Daily Citizen reported that during his show, host Chris Cuomo told Americans that they didn’t need God. “If you believe in one another and if you do the right thing for yourself and your community, things will get better in this country. You don’t need help from above, it’s within us,” Cuomo stated.
