Actor Kirk Cameron and BRAVE Books are hosting the second national See You at the Library event on August 24, 2024.
BRAVE Books describes itself as “a Christian publishing company that makes books for kids that reinforce biblically-based, foundational values.” The books are geared for children ages four to 12.
Parents (and grandparents and aunts and uncles) have an opportunity to join other families at more than 340 public libraries across the country “to read wholesome children’s books, sing the national anthem and pray.”
The publisher says the story hours “celebrate a return to American, Constitutional and Biblical values,” inviting families to participate:
This year, we are calling on patriots across the country to join the movement and go to their local library to host their own Story Hour. This is about more than just reading children’s books… It’s about shaping the future of our nation by instilling traditional values and a love for America in the next generation. With your help, we can leave a legacy by fostering a sense of faith, hope, and patriotism in our country again.
While events are held across the nation, Cameron will appear at two public libraries in Virginia.

The company was founded in 2021 by Dr. Trent Talbot, an ophthalmologist who was looking for books to read to his daughter and “was shocked by the sheer amount of inappropriate entertainment on the market.”
BRAVE Books collaborates with authors like Riley Gaines, whose book Happy No Snakes Day is about standing up for truth; Missy Robertson, with a book about family and unconditional love titled Because You’re My Family; and Kevin Sorbo, with a book about masculinity, The Test of Lionhood, and a book about the importance of fathers, The Bear Essentials of Fatherhood.
Cameron’s books include The Fox, the Fair and the Invention Scare, about loving your enemies, and As You Grow, about the fruit of the Spirit. In addition, the actor is partnering with BRAVE Books on a Christian children’s show, Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.
Cameron has a book for adults coming out in October 2024, Born to Be Brave: How to Be a Part of America’s Spiritual Comeback. The book helps believers “recognize the Christian backstory of America” and “hold on to our God-given compassion for others, even when we face backlash and opposition.”
See You at the Library started as a Christian, conservative alternative to public events like Drag Queen Story Hours, which began in 2015 with drag queens reading stories to children about transgenderism.
To counter the sexualization and confusion of children, BRAVE Books began hosting its own story readings, but the company received pushback from libraries that would not allow events or canceled them after they were scheduled. First Liberty, a religious freedom legal aid group, sent letters charging libraries with religious discrimination, with some libraries relenting.
