Nine state governors have written a letter to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) asking it to end its policy of allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.
The governors criticizes the NCAA’s Transgender Student Athlete Policy that calls for the national governing body of each sport to determine whether biological males can compete against females.
They address the letter to the NCAA’s Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports, which is made up of 22 members, a majority of whom are men. NCAA President Charlie Baker was also copied on the letter.
“The NCAA has the chance to guarantee an environment where female college athletes can thrive without the concern of inequities,” the governors wrote, adding,
This policy allows the NCAA to avoid responsibility for ensuring the fairness of collegiate sports – therefore it must be changed. …
Science proves that it is fundamentally unfair for a biological male to compete against a biological female – that does not change when someone declares themselves as being of a different gender.
The letter notes biological men are “generally taller, faster, stronger, and have more testosterone than biological women” which “puts women … at a disadvantage when they are required to compete against a biological male.”
“As governors of our states, it is our responsibility to care for our constituents, and we are doing all we can to protect fairness of athletics in our states,” the governors wrote. “Now, it is time for the NCAA to do the same and make the best decision for all of your athletes.”
The governors concluded their letter, writing,
We strongly encourage you to rewrite your Transgender Student Athlete Policy to protect, preserve, and encourage fairness in women’s athletics.
Governors Kristi Noem (SD), Sarah Huckabee Sanders (AR), Tate Reeves (Miss), Mike Parson (MO), Greg Gianforte (MT), Joe Lombardo (NV), Kevin Stitt (OK), Greg Abbott (TX) and Mark Gordon (WY) signed the letter.
Female rights advocate Riley Gaines posted about the letter on X, formerly known as Twitter:
Nine governors signed a joint letter to the NCAA encouraging them to change their policies to protect, preserve, and prioritize fairness and safety over inclusion in women’s sports.
Amazing. Keep the pressure on President Baker and the NCAA!

So, at the NCAA, there is a committee – made up of mostly men – that is deciding to take away rights, privileges and opportunities that rightly belong to women.
Where is the outrage from those on the Left, who commonly assert that men should have no say over what women do with their bodies?
Over the past several years, the NCAA has repeatedly placed its organizational weight behind promoting transgenderism in athletics.
It’s far past time for the NCAA to correct its policy and protect women’s sports, and female athletes, from biological males competing against them.
