For decades, pro-abortion activists have attempted to influence public opinion by hiding under the guise of one word: “choice.”
“Planned Parenthood delivers programs, resources, and tools … that help people make informed choices about their sexuality and relationships,” the abortion giant’s website states (emphasis added).
But after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade at the end of June, the Left has become increasingly forward that for pregnant women, they favor only one choice: abortion.
Thousands of pregnancy resource centers (PRCs) around the nation offer completely free resources to pregnant women in need, including ultrasounds, counseling, formula, baby food, clothes, diapers and more.
But this act of kindness and generosity aimed to help pregnant women have real choices is apparently akin to torture according to one pro-abortion member of Congress.
Just recently, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren recently called for the shutting down of pregnancy resource centers.
“We need to shut [pregnancy resource centers] down here in Massachusetts, and we need to shut them down all around the country,” Sen. Warren said. “You should not be able to torture a pregnant person like that.”
Providing individuals in need with free baby food and counseling is a very interesting definition of torture.
The Daily Citizen recently spoke with Rich Bennett, President and CEO of Life Network, a nonprofit Christian ministry based in Colorado Springs that aims to “cultivate a community that values life through the love of Christ.”
Life Network currently operates Colorado Springs Pregnancy Centers (CSPCs) at three different locations that “meet women and men facing unplanned pregnancy in their time of need.” Life Network does not provide or refer for abortions.
Specifically, CSPCs also offer the following resources:
Pregnancy Testing
Ultrasounds
STD Testing & Treatment
Pregnancy Options Education
Community and Medical Referrals
Emergency Material Needs
Bennett told us that as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision, many states will enact strong pro-life protections that will save the lives of tens of thousands of preborn babies.
But for a state like Colorado which permits abortion up until birth, Bennett told us that nothing changes in terms of the law.
What has changed is that women will now be coming from surrounding, more pro-life states, to seek abortions in Colorado.
“We are getting increasing opportunities to serve out of state individuals,” Bennett said. “When the Texas Heartbeat law went into place, we were maybe getting three [out-of-state] calls a week. And now, between all of our surrounding states, we’re getting several calls a day.”
“It really has turned our centers into a regional, not just local, ministry.”
Bennett told us that they have begun adding staff to help with the influx of clients from other states.
Additionally, in recent months Catholic churches and pregnancy resource centers have become frequent targets for pro-abortion vandals seeking to express their anger at pro-life supporters.
More than 80 churches and PRCs have been vandalized so far.
As a result, Life Network has begun increasing its security infrastructure and protocols.
“A lot of those things, thankfully, we had in place like security doors, an alarm system, good nighttime security lighting,” Bennett told us. “Above and beyond that, we have had, at least in the immediate wake of the Roe decision, on-site nighttime security. And we’re looking at a couple of other additional steps too.”
Bennett also told us that in the wake of the high court’s decision, Christians have a unique opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ, particularity with those in need.
“This give us a special opportunity, as Christians, to be fully-orbed pro-life Christians that care about preborn babies but also really show that we care about those moms and those dads facing unexpected pregnancies,” Bennett said.
“Support your local pregnancy center if you do nothing else whether that’s through donating or volunteering,” Bennett said. “We absolutely see a correlation between as God has blessed us with additional funds, we have been able to have additional impact.”
