Failed presidential candidate and former First Lady Hillary Clinton now has a podcast called “You and Me Both,” where she recently interviewed current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., on the Capitol riots. During the conversation, Pelosi singled out pro-life Christian Americans as problematic, stating, “They were willing to sell the whole democracy down the river for that one issue.”
The accusation is outrageous and shows how out of touch some of the nation’s top leaders are with the pro-life movement.
In the special episode, Pelosi cited her own Catholic faith, while attacking those in her own denomination for their pro-life views.
“Now, there’s one other element that I have been talking about for a long time that gives me great grief as a Catholic. I think that Donald Trump is president because of the issue of a woman’s right to choose,” Pelosi said. “When he signed that paper saying, ‘These are the judges that I will appoint,’ that was the dog whistle to the Evangelicals, to the Catholics, and all the rest. A woman will not have the right to choose. And when you see the polls about impeachment now, 80 percent think what happened was wrong; 70-some percent said he’s responsible, but 40-some percent don’t think he should be impeached. Well, why? One issue: abortion.”
“And that is enough,” Pelosi added. “When you take the greed of those who want their tax cut, that’s probably a small number, but nonetheless a number, and then you take the abortion issue – and many of these people are very good people; that’s just their point of view. But they were willing to sell the whole democracy down the river for that one issue.”
Yes, the issue of abortion remains a critical voting contention with half of the American population, which is why many people supported and continue to support former President Donald Trump. This is especially true for Christians.
As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.”
The “grief” that Pelosi should feel as a Catholic is the loss of 50 million lives in the United States to abortion, not that a woman will lose the “right to choose.”
The former First Lady then shared a conspiracy theory about Trump and the possibility, again, of Russian interference in the Capitol riots.
“We learned a lot about our system of government over the last four years with a president who disdains democracy and — as you have said numerous times — has other agendas,” Clinton said. “What they all are, I don’t think we yet know. I hope historically we will find out who he’s beholden to, who pulls his strings.”
“I would love to see his phone records to see whether he was talking to Putin the day that the insurgents invaded our Capitol,” she continued, adding, “We now know that — not just him, but his enablers, his accomplices, his cult members — have the same disregard for democracy.”
The accusation of Russian interference in the 2016 election has been roundly disproven, but it is apparently the only reason, in addition to those pesky pro-life supporters, for Clinton’s shocking loss.
Why can Pelosi and Clinton say this, but Donald Trump’s accusations of election fraud are considered “dangerous” to the foundation of democracy in this country?
The hypocrisy is staggering.
Needless to say, Clinton’s podcast won’t be on the watch list for conservatives or pro-life supporters anytime soon.
