Focus on the Family will be hosting an online “National (Inauguration) Day of Prayer” event on Wednesday, January 20, on the ministry’s social media channels. The event is intended to coincide with the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. The event can be accessed on Wednesday morning via Focus on the Family’s Facebook page as well as The Daily Citizen’s Facebook page.
“America is at a crossroads,” said Focus President Jim Daly in announcing the event. “We have experienced a time of uncertainty, division and unrest in the nation such as we have not experienced in a very long time. It is essential that Christians join together at this crucial moment in history and pray for healing in our country and for the blessing of God on our leaders, our neighbors and the institutions of government that impact our daily lives.”
Daly, along with several other Focus leaders, will pray for the outgoing administration of President Donald Trump and the incoming administration of President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C., as well as for those key issues that have always motivated our ministry, such as marriage, parenting, foster care and adoption, sanctity of life and religious freedom.
The last year has been filled with events that have stressed the nation: the COVID-19 pandemic; the ongoing riots and protests in cities; the November election; the January 6 riot at the Capitol; and the impeachment of President Trump by the U.S. House of Representatives. These are turbulent times.
On January 20, we will witness the peaceful transition of power to the administration of a new president, a tradition that has exemplified the American experience ever since President George Washington stepped down to make way for incoming President John Adams in 1797.
Please join with us as we approach the throne of grace next Wednesday and seek the Lord’s will for our country. The approximately 15-minute event will be recorded, so you can tune in when it’s convenient for you and pray along from start to finish.
“It’s a fragile time in the nation’s history and how better to respond than with prayer?” said Daly.
We hope you’ll join us on Wednesday, January 20. That’s Facebook.com/FocusontheFamily and Facebook.com/FocusCitizen.
