JD Vance: Jesus Christ ‘Died and Then Raised Himself From the Dead’

Vice President JD Vance spoke to the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Thursday, addressing his faith in Jesus Christ, his pro-life views and using the opportunity to counsel young men.

Life

Concerning the issue of life, the vice president touted the great work that pregnancy resource centers do helping women choose life for their preborn babies.

“We want to make it easier for young moms and young dads to choose life, to start families, and to bring new life into the world,” Vance said.

Vice President Vance just NAILED it on the abortion question.

“We’ve got to persuade our fellow citizens that unborn life is worthy of protecting. It is sacred in the eyes of God, and it should be sacred in the eyes of man, too.”

Advice to Young Men

The vice president also gave advice to young men navigating our broken culture.

“Our cultural message is that it wants to turn everybody – male or female – into androgynous idiots who think the same, talk the same and act the same,” Vance said. “We actually think God made male and female for a purpose.”

Vice President JD Vance has a powerful message for young men

“My message to young men is don’t allow this broken culture to send you a message that you’re a bad person because you’re a man, because you like to tell a joke, because you like to have a beer with your friends,… pic.twitter.com/JKWuX9cQhn

Christianity

In addition, Vance spoke about his Christian faith, noting Christianity is centered on the fact that “the Son of God became man, He died, and then He raised himself from the dead.”

“One lesson that flows from that is that we shouldn’t fear death,” he added. “There are much more terrible things than just losing one’s life. You could lose one’s soul.”

Catholic VP JD Vance on his faith:

“The Son of God became man he died and he raised himself from the dead.”

“We put our faith in God above.”

“We don’t worry so much about whether we’re going to have earthly rewards. We worry about whether we’re doing right by God Almighty… pic.twitter.com/b2NeoE8p1M

The Apostle Paul wrote about the importance of the resurrection for Christians’ faith. Indeed, he affirmed that if the resurrection is false, Christianity is false:

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins” (1 Cor. 15:14-17, ESV).

Thankfully, we have good evidence to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In their book I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist, Dr. Norman Geisler and Frank Turek summarize research by Dr. Gary Habermas who conducted “the most comprehensive investigation to date” on what scholars believe about the resurrection. Academics from across the ideological spectrum – from “ultra-liberals to Bible-thumping conservatives” – almost unanimously agree on the following historical facts:

Jesus died by Roman crucifixion.

He was buried, most likely in a private tomb.

Soon afterwards, the disciples were discouraged, bereaved, and despondent, having lost hope.

Jesus’ tomb was found empty very soon after his internment.

The disciples had experiences that they believed were actual appearances of the risen Jesus.

Due to these experiences, the disciples’ lives were thoroughly transformed. They were even willing to die for their belief.

The proclamation of the Resurrection took place very early, from the beginning of church history.

The disciples’ public testimony and preaching of the Resurrection took place in the city of Jerusalem, where Jesus had been crucified and buried shortly before.

The gospel message centered on the preaching of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Sunday was the primary day for gathering and worshiping.

James, the brother of Jesus and a skeptic before this time, was converted when he believed he also saw the risen Jesus.

Just a few years later, Saul of Tarsus (Paul) became a Christian believer, due to an experience that he also believed was an appearance of the risen Jesus.

Indeed, as Geisler and Turek write, “There is strong eyewitness and corroborating evidence to support the historicity of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

You can watch brief video summarizing these facts of Jesus’ resurrection below:

Since Christ has been raised from the dead, we remember that death does not have the last word. We who believe in Christ also have hope in our resurrection from the dead, and in the life of the world to come.

Thank you to Vice President Vance for bravely and intelligently articulating this hope.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3, ESV).
