Apple’s New Pro-Family Christmas Ad Pulls at the ‘Heartstrings’

Apple Inc. recently released its annual holiday advertisement “Heartstrings” just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The two-minute commercial features the AirPods Pro 2’s new hearing health feature.

Released just six days ago, “Heartstrings” has already racked up nearly 13 million views on YouTube. Despite Apple’s focus on top dollar products and profit, the new television ad features a stunning pro-family message. There’s no “wokeness” detected here.

It depicts a family unwrapping presents on Christmas morning. The father, shown to be experiencing hearing loss, sees his daughter opening a gift – a new guitar. But he can’t hear her play.

Until…

Benny Johnson, host of The Benny Johnson Show, posted about the ad on X:

I’m stunned. Apple just released the single greatest pro-parenting ad in the history of American advertising.

The pro-family cultural revolution is here.

Watch. Try not to cry…

Apple says it is “pioneering hearing” with the new AirPods Pro 2. Wearers can “access a Hearing test, a Hearing Aid feature, and active Hearing Protection using just [their AirPods] and an iPhone or iPad.”

The company says of the product, “[It’s] the world’s first all-in-one hearing health experience – and it’s available with a free software update.”

Apple’s focus on the family this Christmas season is spot on. The value of family is something many people take for granted. Fewer and fewer young people today want to start families of their own.

Indeed, the United States has been in a marriage recession in recent years, with marriage rates declining precipitously.

According to the Pew Research Center, a shocking 25% of 40-year-olds in the United States had never been married as of 2021. This is up dramatically from just 6% in 1980.

Additionally, though not surprisingly, given the decline in marriage rates, increasing numbers of young people do not value marriage and having children.

While 71% of Americans say having a job or career they enjoy is “extremely/very important” to them in living a fulfilling life, just 26% say the same about having children, while 23% say being married is very important to them.

Here’s one more concerning statistic. Young men are now more likely to say they wish to form families by having children (57%) compared to young women (45%). In this way, young men’s desire to have children has eclipsed many women’s maternal instinct.

These statistics are glaring indicators that our society has lost its touch with the importance of marriage and children – two of life’s greatest blessings.

As we enter more fully into the Christmas season, if you’ll be celebrating with your family, give thanks to God for the great gifts that surround you in the form of each person.

God created each of us with a natural desire for marriage and children. For God is the Author of life and of the family itself.

It’s concerning that our culture often discards the value of family in pursuit of selfishness and material gain. As Christians, we must continue to proclaim how marriage and children are great blessings. As marriage rates decline, that message becomes all the more important.

Kudos to Apple for depicting and celebrating some of life’s most precious family moments.
