The Mid Vermont Christian School girls basketball team, known as the Eagles, forfeited a state tournament playoff game last week to a team that was going to play a boy who claims to be a girl.
“We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players,” Head of School Vicky Fogg told Fox News Digital. “Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general,” she added.
Vermont law not only allows males who claim to be females to play on female teams, it requires all schools participating in interscholastic sports to abide by the “gender identity” of its student athletes.
In short, boys who claim to be girls must be allowed to play on girls teams in The Green Mountain State and everyone is required to play along with the lie as if it is truth.
After a successful regular season, the Eagles were scheduled to play the first round of the Division IV state tournament against the Long Trail School Mountain Lions, but withdrew after Mid Vermont Christian’s administrators learned a boy was listed on the Mountain Lions’ roster.
Support for the Eagles’ decision to stand on principle and forfeit their upcoming game quickly appeared on Twitter.

The state of Vermont not only denies biological reality with its laws on gender identity, but in the Alice-in-Wonderland aftermath the law creates, the government now punishes girls for objecting to having males undress with them in school locker rooms.
The Daily Citizen last year reported on two high school female volleyball players in Randolph, Vermont, who were investigated for “harassment” after complaining of the presence of a male student who identifies as “trans” in the girls locker room.
The situation deteriorated further when Travis Allen, the father of one of the girls and a middle school soccer coach in the same district, was suspended from his job when he came to his daughter’s defense on social media, and in the course of doing so, “misgendered” the trans student by referring to him as a male.
You can’t make this stuff up.
That case is now in the courts, as father and daughter are being represented by attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom.
For Christian parents, the issue is about much more than biology or the simple fact that boys are typically larger, faster and stronger than girls and create not only an unfair competition, but sometimes a dangerous one as well.
But for parents who believe the scriptural truth that God made them male and female in His image (Genesis 1:27), there is no such thing as a male identifying as a female, or vice versa. And having the government require you to live as if such things are true violates not just common sense, but our faith as well.
Please pray for the female athletes and their parents in Vermont and elsewhere who are being pressured by state and local governments and public schools to acquiesce to the new gender ideology.
And pray for the girls and boys suffering from sexual identity confusion everywhere who, rather than being given compassionate treatment to help them accept their true sexual identity, are encouraged to indulge their confusion, often with disastrous results.
