Planned Parenthood Struggling to Deal with Margaret Sanger’s Legacy of Racism

For decades, Planned Parenthood has encouraged the reproductive rights warriors to worship Margaret Sanger. However, due to the growing Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, the abortion business has struggled to deal with the weight of its legacy of racism, both past and present.

In a recent BuzzFeed article, past and current employees of pro-abortion organizations Planned Parenthood and NARAL, an abortion lobbying group, were called out for their racist policies against black and other women of color employees.

The author states, “Employees of color, and especially Black employees, feel stuck in lower-paying roles at powerful organizations primarily run by white women, and they say they regularly experience microaggressions, tokenization, and racism at institutions that often tout intersectional feminism as their ethos. And when they try to push for more inclusivity — both publicly and internally — they say they are ignored or brushed off.”

A woman who previously worked at one of the major public relations firms connected with reproductive rights organizations said, “I do think it’s worse in reproductive rights, because it is insidious. The movement prides itself on working on issues affecting the most marginalized in society — women, trans and nonbinary folks, and people of color. And yet, in their own workplaces, they don’t value those people.”

According to the report, while many women of color are hired in lower-level clinical roles, it’s nearly impossible for them to move up. For example, of the 49 Planned Parenthood affiliate offices located across the country, only eight are run by women of color.

Most shockingly, the liberal publication admitted something that the pro-life movement has been trying to draw attention to for years, that black and other minority women are disproportionately targeted for abortion.

Alexis McGill Johnson, the current president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, responded in a Twitter thread, stating, “To everyone who shared their stories, or saw pieces of their own in these accounts, I want to say: I hear you, I see you, I feel you, and I’ve been there too…We know white supremacy limits sexual and reproductive health. We must fight to eradicate it (from) Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Our freedom depends on it, and our mission demands it.”

It seems like more people are waking up to the reality of what’s really going on at Planned Parenthood. This is an organization with racist and eugenic roots. Why would it respect its employees of color, when it routinely targets preborn babies of color for abortion?

Those in the pro-life community have been leveling accusations of racism against Planned Parenthood for years, which the organization has flippantly ignored until now. Despite all of Planned Parenthood’s propaganda, it doesn’t care about the health and welfare of women of color. They’ve just been a convenient political tool.

Pro-life members of the African American community are now calling on Planned Parenthood to address this problem. In an open letter, 100 prominent signatories, including Benjamin Watson, Alveda King, Rev. Dean Nelson and others, asked McGill Johnson to address the organization’s own “systemic racism.”

The letter states, “We are a diverse coalition of Black leaders fighting for the dignity of all human life. Like you, we feel called to action by America’s collective reckoning with its history of racism and unjust violence against Black lives. We affirm, with you, that Black lives matter and that every human being, regardless of race or ethnicity, deserves equal respect, equal rights, and equal dignity.

“That’s why we’re writing to you today. We are asking you to use your position at Planned Parenthood to confront the systemic racism of America’s abortion practices and to publicly renounce the racist legacy of your founder, Margaret Sanger.”

At this point, neither Planned Parenthood nor McGill Johnson have responded.
