A recent episode of Muppet Babies, a reboot of the 1980s show with the same name, sparked controversy when it promoted transgender ideology to children.
The episode, titled “Gonzo-rella” centers around the muppet Gonzo and a re-telling of Cinderella. The episode begins with two female characters explaining that everyone is invited to attend a royal ball. However, there is a rule that everyone must follow: “According to the royal handbook, the girls come as princesses, and the boys come as knights.”
This upsets the male Gonzo, as he wants to come in a dress. Later, “Fairy Rat-Father” appears, and he magically places a dress, mask and glass sneakers on Gonzo, concealing his true identity. He calls himself “Gonzo-rella” and goes to the ball. After leaving the ball before midnight, he leaves behind a glass sneaker. All of the characters converse on who this “most amazing princess” could be, and Gonzo reveals that it was him all along.
“But Gonzo, why didn’t you tell us?” Miss Piggy asks.
“Because you all expected me to look a certain way,” Gonzo replies. “I don’t want you to be upset with me.”
In response to this, the characters apologize for not previously allowing Gonzo to wear a dress.
“Oh Gonzo, we’re sorry,” Miss Piggy says. “It wasn’t very nice of us to tell you what to wear to our ball.”
In response, the episode received backlash. Candace Owens, a conservative commentator, expressed her displeasure on Twitter.
“I can’t believe I’m tweeting this but … they are pushing the trans agenda on children via muppet babies,” Owens wrote. “ … Everyone should be disturbed by predatory cartoons meant to usher children into gender dysphoria. Bring back manly muppets, anyone?”
The episode is yet another attempt by children’s television companies to put their own political ideologies into cartoon episodes in order to indoctrinate. The mainstream culture is unashamedly pushing inappropriate and sexually confusing ideology onto children while they are young and impressionable – it isn’t something that parents can ignore anymore.
It is vital for parents to step forward in protecting children from being misled by the many worldly voices that will lie to them and tell them that God’s design for the world is wrong and sin is okay. Take charge by having conversations with your children and monitoring the lessons in the shows that they are being exposed to.
